The light invaded her peace. Her sanctuary had been defiled. She ignored it for as long as she could. The piercing gaze of the light had permeated her deepest thoughts. She was enraged at that which didn't belong. She grunted at it and screamed, as if it would have been scared off by her rage. She tried to hide from it. Every corner she slumped down into, the light would find her at. There was no escaping it. Pure anger became violent curiosity. She had to see where the light was coming from. What fueled it, what made it be, and why it was.
She cautiously made her way to the crack in the wall. Keeping her pace slow and controlled. She stood in front of it. The warmth the light gave her was a new experience. It felt different from the cold, dark room which she lived. She reached out a hand and touched the crack in the wall. The grainy building material was unlike the smooth floors and walls that the room had. This disruption or the normalcy that came last night brought so many new feelings and sensations to her. Fear, anger, warmth, curiosity. She began to poke and prod at it. Small pieces of material fell with each one. The crack became larger and allowed more light to flow in and warm her. In time, the crack became a hole, and the hole became a doorway. Her eyes adjusted to the newfound light and she saw out of her room. Her old prison. She gazed at all the things she had never seen. Things were different. Tall, decrepit structures were all around. Things were ruined and old, yet they were beautiful and new to her. She fingered her headphones and grabbed them, cautiously pulling them from her head.
All that there was left, was silence.
